Abbott is seeking candidates for the position of Category Manager IT, reporting to the Global Managed Services Lead within Global Procurement. This role will be expected to develop and lead Global Procurement and Supplier Management strategies as it relates to major spend categories exceeding $250MM, capital projects, and geographic regions. Drive the "One Abbott Procurement" model with key internal customers, divisions, and business leads; Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity; Anticipate and resolve problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services; Drive new cost savings, improve supplier relationships and perform other value added activities to support customer needs and expectations; Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and service levels; Understand "One Procurement" category strategies and complete projects that impact the "One Procurement" team; Use delegated authority to commit company funds in accordance with strategic initiatives; Gain recognition as an expert within own area; Portray specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Researches and develops IT strategic initiatives in collaboration with IT stakeholders and creates short/long term strategic plans for global managed services
Develops and leads sub-category strategies that align to the broader category strategy in collaboration with senior leadership and executes to completion
Takes personal accountability for team goals while collaborating with team members to deliver results
Performs value cost analysis and optimizes financial results that result in direct savings
Leads and executes competitive bids (e.g. RFP, RFI) and multi-million dollar renewals to completion
Champions process improvements that drive efficiencies, responsiveness, and controls
Prepares analytical reports and dashboards for customers to influence direction
Assesses complex problems and proposes practical solutions
Manages contract legal reviews and purchase order approvals
Develops contract negotiation plans and delivers against plan for internal customers
Responsible for delivering projects in cost savings, supplier rationalization, process changes, etc.
Leads executive governance meetings with key suppliers and delivers action plans
Manages contracts and supplier performance
Identifies new opportunities for supplier synergies and KPI's
Collaborates with other internal functions to drive business value outcomes
Provides advice/direction and expertise to internal customers on global procurement matters
Acts as an escalation point for supplier issues
Educates stakeholders on the process and policies as appropriate
Seeks and establishes business working relationships with key suppliers across all levels
Assesses supplier risks and provides recommendations for mitigation
Meets regularly with divisional customers and leads functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement
Mentors and coaches team members to encourage growth and development of individual skills
Demonstrates ability to embrace change, demonstrates agility in relation to change and persuades/leads others through the change to minimize team disruption. Ensures a continuously high performing team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Financial or like degree.
5+ years Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management Experience
Required experience to successfully perform job responsibilities includes but not limited to: Sourcing, Project Management, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Supply Chain Management, Production Planning, Value engineering and Cost analysis, Financial analysis, Quality Systems and documentation, Regulatory issues compliance, Contracting experience, Commercial law, Technical experience (IT area), Computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations), Strong communication/persuasion, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
8+ years Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management Experience
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, DSS Green Belt, and/or MBA desired.
Relevant IT experience could be a valid substitute for procurement experience and CPSM or CPM certifications. IAOP or ITIL qualifications.
