The Power BI Developer will play a cross-functional role in assessing business needs, clarifying requirements and developing solutions through design, develop, test, document and maintain business intelligence solutions. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the global commercial excellence organization and Abbott Structural Heart's business analytics needs and advancement. Responsible for translating real-world, challenging business questions and sometimes vague business requirements into user friendly visualizations and dashboards, identify patterns and trends, and provide business insight. Specialized in Microsoft Power BI, Power platform and Azure Analysis Services.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Services.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI Visuals, Data modeling, DAX and transformation techniques.
Complete full SLC process to Design, Develop, test and maintain Power BI visualizations and reports on scheduled projects and ad hoc requests.
Good understanding of SQL for data retrieval and strong ETL/data modeling skills.
Ensure the right information is identified at the right time and at the appropriate level for reporting purposes. Implement row level security.
Educate business stakeholders on intelligence reporting capabilities.
Responsible for end user training on use of Power BI platform.
Work with domain experts to establishes the metrics required to measure business performance and recommends the go-forward strategy to address performance gaps.
Develop and update technical documentation.
Be accountable for the accuracy of the data presented to BI users through the execution of validation processes and testing.
Monitor the Power BI system for data quality, job errors, performance issues and resolve with Microsoft.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience in data preparation, data model and data warehousing.
3+ years of direct experience using Power BI as an enterprise reporting solution.
Ability to work collaboratively, internally and externally.
Ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead a team and work in a group environment, including interaction with Senior / Executive level leadership.
Must be highly analytical; possess strong interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiation and teamwork skills.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Comfortable working with ambiguous business needs where learning and adaptability are key.
Motivated and results-oriented, creative thinker and problem solver.
