The Department of Health, Behavior and Society seeks a Research Program Assistant who will assist with recruitment of potential participants for substance use related research studies, conduct interviews and data quality assurance.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Assisting Study Investigators with developing recruitment/ retention strategy.
Conducting community-based outreach, identifying and interacting with potential participants to assess their interest in enrollment in the research project.
Interacting with community-based agencies to promote study recruitment.
Documenting recruitment and retention activities.
Contacting study participants to determine study eligible and schedule study appointments.
Reviewing study database to ensure completion and identify errors.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
High School Diploma/GED.
Some related experience.
Must have the ability to write and read.
Some college courses preferred.
Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills a must.
Ability to be creative and problem-solve.
Experience with research projects individuals who use drugs and with diverse backgrounds preferred.
Intimate knowledge of Baltimore City and the surrounding counties preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Position requires good oral and written communication skills to communicate with range of individuals including study participants, research project Management and Study Investigators.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
