Hopkins Athletics is multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men's and women's lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming.
In the Summer of 2021, the Department will complete a $27 million dollar renovation and expansion of the Ralph S. O'Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being. This facility will feature all new state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardiovascular training, expanded group exercise offerings, and mindfulness and meditation programming. The focus is on fostering holistic student health and a community of care. In addition, The Bill Starr Varsity Weight Room will also undergo a complete renovation in 2021 by adding an additional 3,800 square feet of team and individual student-athlete training space. This investment will include all new training equipment, a nutrition station, and the latest in performance technology.
The Hopkins Athletics Department seeks an innovative and forward-thinking Manager of Facilities and Events(Athletic Facilities Supervisor)beginning ASAP. The Manager of Facilities and Events must leadwithin the framework of a best in class facilities department at Johns Hopkins University. Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the management of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
Manage assigned buildings and maintenance projects.
In conjunction with assistant directors, act as game operations manager for regular and post-season varsity events
Act as event manager for any outside special or contracted events including summer camps and clinics.
In conjunction with assistant directors, act as point-of-contact for preparation and game management of all home football and men's lacrosse games.
Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of assigned storage facilities.
Manage athletic-facility-related inventory and equipment.
Assist Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities in management of online scheduling software.
Oversight of athletic facility operations employees (3 full-time bargaining unit).
Be able to work nights and week-ends, and be on-call for emergency situations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management or related field required.
Three years of related Athletics facilities experience is required.
Additional experience preferred.
The Manager of Facilities and Events is directly supervised by the Assistant Athletic Director, Facilities & Events.
This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, alumni, and other outside constituencies.
General office, athletic facility, and campus environment.
The position will require work outside and in inclement weather.
Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary.
Walking, standing, bending, twisting, and occasional lifting is required.
Computer usage involving repetitive and/wrist motion is required.
The position will be a full-time, fiscal year appointment, with frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year with those dates determined by a supervisor.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Operates on turf, grass, gymnasium, and training rooms.
General open office and campus environment.
Position involves sitting, movement, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in coaching and training situations.
Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend work is required.
