Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Community Outreach Worker for the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Division within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI). Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Senior Community Outreach Worker will be a member of the Paulsboro PFAS Health Study Team to recruit study participants. The individual will meet with the Pauslboro/West Deptford community and identify opportunities for group enrollment activities such as organizational, school, and faith-based events.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Participates on the Community Assistance Panel which includes reporting out, assisting with science translation, and identifying potential engagement opportunities that enhances the Paulsboro community.
Assists the Site Coordinator with research and general office tasks.
Coordinates a community-wide canvass including recruiting and training a canvass team.
Communicates news and updates with program participants.
Maintains and performs accurate data tracking, evaluation and reporting of participant engagement.
Collaborates with the study team to produce materials for newsletters and for publishing educational materials.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in community work, preferably involving community health related activities.
Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the educational or experience requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be computer literate, specifically with Microsoft applications and database software.
Must obtain all Rutgers required training (CITI,REHS) as well as trainings required for study procedures offered by the CDC to assist researchers and staff in study procedures.
A working knowledge of Paulsboro and the Greater Paulsboro community.
Must have use of personal vehicle or alternate means of transportation in order to travel for business demands. Some evenings and weekends will be required. This is a grant funded position.
