Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Program Coordinator will primarily assist in the day-to-day logistics and operations for COVID-19 clinical research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Bayview Medical Center. The Research Program Coordinator will interact with the investigators, collaborators, and patients in a clinical research environment. This person will be responsible for collecting and overseeing data collection and interpretation along with coordination of all aspects of the lung ultrasound program for a COVID-19 related research. This person will be the point of contact for the ultrasound component of multiple trials located in the United States. Specifically, this position will receive training in lung ultrasound acquisition and interpretation to assist with the collection and interpretation of lung ultrasound images along with management of data and analysis related to imaging studies. General qualifications include strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to easily adapt to change, work independently, and work constructively in a team environment. This person will work as a member of multiple multidisciplinary study teams and with all levels of research personnel including investigators, research nurses, field workers, other study coordinators, and students.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned study protocols and reporting requirements.
Adhere to all protocol requirements to ensure validity of clinical research data.
Interact with clinicians and other gatekeepers to access the participants population.
Enter data into computer databases.
Maintain paper and computerized research files.
Participate in research group meetings: schedule meetings; create agendas; complete minutes.
Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols.
Assist in preparation and maintenance of IRB protocols and related documents.
Meet regularly with manager and/or team leader to review data accuracy, shift reports, and overall study progress.
Provide coordination of lung ultrasound imaging projects with our Johns Hopkins University team, local research site investigators, field staff, and other project partners to ensure effective and timely implementation of study protocols and data collection of lung ultrasound research activities.
Assist in the scientific and administrative design and implementation of lung ultrasound related projects
Assist in the development and clarity of study protocols, standard operating procedures; and manuals of operation, data collection instruments, training materials and guidelines, and other field materials.
Compile data for reports for ethical review committees, funding agencies, and other research sponsors.
Communicate effectively with administrative staff, institutional leadership, and study sponsors at JHU and in the different research sites.
Maintain inventory of equipment and instruments usedin research sites.
Assisting in the development of educational and training activities and tools related to lung ultrasound.
The position will be based in Baltimore.
Assist in compiling data for study progress reports and grant proposals using Stata and R.
Assist the research team in developing and maintaining database of research studies using REDCap, Magpi, and cloud based databases.
Willingness to learn additional skills and knowledge quickly related to the research studies in order to best manage studies as assigned by management.
Ability to oversee and organize training activities for research collaborators and field workers in sonography.
Organize and lead regular calls regarding progress in data collection activities, data management, patient safety, and other site-specific issues.
MaintaincompliancewithHIPAA and IRB regulations and guidelines and ensure staff compliance.
Perform SAP transactions including order of supplies (Shopping Cart), Travel Assistant, and On-Line Payment as requested.
Performs other duties and special projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor's degree in public health, statistics or other related discipline.
Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or other related discipline.
Three years of experience doing epidemiological research
Strong data management skills.
A year of related experience in clinical trials/human subjects research.

Proficiency in the use of computers and data entry, including software applications, databases, mathematical and statistical tools, spreadsheets, and word processing.

This person will be working 40 hours a week. Must be available to work 8 hour shifts at a time, between the hours of 8:00 am and midnight, seven (7) days of the week. Must be flexible and available to work some evenings and weekends.
