Performs biochemical and molecular biology assays and techniques with training and general supervision using baker’s yeast as a model organism. We are seeking a Research Technologist to join a 12-person team investigating fundamental questions on the structure and function of chromatin in the model organism S. cerevisiae, using the full range of biochemical, biophysical, molecular genetics, and cellular imaging techniques.
Performs laboratory experiments by following common protocols or with instruction.
Uses basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab. Run lab tests and complete measurements assigned.
Gains problem solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research and experience.
Identifies and resolves common problems involved in routine research assays.
Understands role of senior lab members and accepts constructive guidance. Increases own skill base knowledge of lab research.
Lab Management duties: Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques. Prepare, test and maintain standard lab equipment. Perform related lab maintenance, monitor inventory and coordinate purchasing of reagents.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field required.
Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience Excellent organizational skills are required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. The technician should be competent in Excel, PowerPoint (or Keynote), Word, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Starting Salary Range: $14.14 - $19.44 (commensurate with experience)
