This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more VA Central Western MA Health Care System is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to work in the Compensation & Pension (C&P) Department under Primary Care, which includes Occupational Health, Compensation & Pension, and Environmental Exposures. Occupational Health, per VA's policy, is to ensure that applicants and employees are physically, cognitively and emotionally fit to perform the duties of the position to which they are assigned. The Program Director will be in charge of the Employee Occupational Health Service and responsible for providing employee occupational health services As an examiner in C&P, you conduct a medical examination on a past or current military service member who has filed a compensation or pension claim. This examination is part of the review process, which assists the VA in determining if the military service member's disability is service connected. These complications include, but are not limited to: pain, functional limitations, significant progression of the injury/illness requiring medical treatment and/or possible surgery, inability to work, or medically-related secondary conditions. Environmental Exposures Clinic entails a voluntary medical evaluation for military service members who may have been exposed to known or unknown environmental hazards during their military services. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Examining/Consulting on Employees regarding disability management for RTD status Perform initial & follow-up evaluation/treatment for Occupational Injuries Perform initial (only) evaluation of Occupational Illnesses Perform Pre-Placement Examinations Understanding the forensic process of reviewing military histories, present medical conditions, and policies which allow for recommendations Conducting History / physical exams to document current status and diagnose conditions Ordering of ancillary tests when required to establish or qualify diagnosis Preparing reports which document the exam for which the VBA makes a rating Performs physical examinations in accordance with set guidelines from the Registries (Agent Orange, Gulf War Phase I and Phase II, Ionizing Radiation, Depleted Uranium, Airborne Hazards/Open Burn Pit, Toxic Embedded Fragments Work Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8:00am - 4:30pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required This position may be filled by a Physician Assistant under this announcement or by a Nurse Practitioner under announcement number CBTD-11073786-21-CL.
