Construction Project Manager (EHS Experience REQUIRED)

JOB SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to act as the owner's representative to assist in the design, construction and commissioning of construction projects in accordance with the owners HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides support for monitoring injury, illness, and incident related performance. Supports the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required. Provides health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance support and reports findings, concerns, and deficiencies. Responds to client/customer/member concerns regarding HSE matters. Supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Client Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and client policies and procedures. Act as a HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) subject matter resource for the construction projects. Other field duties may be assigned. Ensure all Client Construction HSE Program requirements are implemented for the safe planning, start up, construction, commissioning and turnover of ground up and tenant improvement projects in an effort to minimize risk to the client. Ensure the General Contractor is meeting the minimum HSE performance requirements mandated by the Client Construction HSE Program, the Client Construction HSE Minimum Performance Requirements and HSE requirements set forth by Federal/State/Local jurisdictions. Performs on-site HSE audits for compliance to the owners HSE program. Engage in project design. Review design progress at 30/60/90 percent for HSE related content Responsible for having and maintaining general knowledge of master design specifications/building life safety codes, etc. to ensure HSE requirements are included in project designs and processes. Responsible for engaging in commissioning process at project substantial completion Complete HSE commissioning checklists to ensure HSE systems are integrated per design prior to releasing site to operations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum 2 years of HSE related experience. Fundamental knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety and environmental regulations is essential is preferred. Experience working in construction, and facility maintenance and management is preferred. Provide technical expertise to the project teams in the arena of Health, Safety and Environmental. College/University Degree as a Safety Professional with two (2) years of construction experience. "Certified Safety Professional" as recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) with at least one (1) years of relevant construction experience. Or proof by the UK's International Institute of Risk & Safety Management as being recognized as a "Fellow". Has completed OSHA 500 Basic Instructor Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and must have performed full-time safety responsibilities for at least five (5) years in the relevant construction industry. Non-degreed HSE professional with at least seven (7) years of directly-related construction safety management experience and completed the OSHA 30 hour class for construction within the last 5 years. Or other relevant experience if approved by a client Construction HSE manager prior to commencement of work. CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSESAs required by local authority (if required). COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGERequires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages. REASONING ABILITYAbility to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills. OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIESAbility to follow detailed instructions and work with a sense of urgency.
