Required Qualifications: As per Civil Service standards and specifications. Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians AND current certification by a nationally accredited central sterile technician credentialing organization as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or a substantially equivalent credential; OR Ability to obtain required certification within 18 months of hiring date. Applicants must be able to follow and understand simple verbal and/or written instructions in English.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma. Previous experience working in a hospital or dental setting, and/or with the patient population. Possess excellent intrapersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
Brief Description: TH Sterile Supply Technicians are valuable members of the Dental Care Center team. TH Sterile Supply Technicians perform tasks related to cleaning, sterilization, monitoring sterility, maintenance, repair, storage, inventory, and delivery of instrumentation, dental supplies and equipment to the Dental Clinic. Duties to include the following:
Operate and maintain equipment used in disinfecting and sterilization. Solutions changed and cleaning of equipment performed on a daily basis. Operate, fill and maintain instrument washers Tracking and recording information in maintenance log. Performs biological monitoring procedures to ensure that all living microorganisms are destroyed.
When supplies are returned to the Sterilization window they must be compared to the students receipt that was given when the student was issued the supplies from Dispensary. This is completed using the electronic software. If any instruments or equipment are missing or damaged the individual must create a log under that providers name.
Must be familiar with Environmental Health and Safety procedures regarding proper disposal of all infectious waste and sharp materials.
Lift and transport instrument trays to ultrasonic cleaner. Separate instruments and bag for autoclave. Wipe down trays. Lift/load/unload and transport instruments, breakdown instrument trays and scan in printer slips in axium system against materials and trays being returned. Lift and transfer cold sterilized instruments to clean room. Maintain accountability and sterilization of hand pieces with accompanying I.D. slips.
Maintain control and sterilization of all surgical set-ups and cleanliness of sterilizing room. Equipment breakdown reported to supervisor immediately.
Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and instruments Maintain laundry supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Special Notes: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.
