Program Coordinator - Community Health and Wellness - Center for Integrative Health

POSITION: The Center for Integrative Health (CIH) supports health and wellness programs for Duquesne University’s campus and neighboring communities and facilitates interdisciplinary education and research opportunities for students and faculty. The Bridges to Health Program (b2h) is a key program within the CIH that aims to address community-identified health priorities through sustainable, multi-sector partnerships. Under the direction of the Manger of Community Health Initiatives, the Community Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of all community-based chronic disease prevention and management programs. The Community Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for coordinating chronic disease screenings and implementing evidence-based chronic disease prevention and management programs in collaboration with CIH staff and community partner organizations. The Program Coordinator will also facilitate increased access to nutrition and physical activity resources and programs. This position involves coordination between CIH staff and community-based partner organizations. The coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients, providers and community organizations. Work schedule may vary. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, coordinates, and implements community-based health screenings, immunization clinics, educational classes, health fairs and evidence-based chronic disease prevention and management programs in collaboration with community partners. Coordinates and oversees activities and duties related to approved research projects, such as recruitment and retention of subjects, data collection, data management and quality control. Contributes to preparation of research grant applications and compiling material for progress reports and other communications. Contributes to developing, maintaining, renewing and modifying IRB protocols, consent forms and related documents under the direction of the PI. Maintains current knowledge of chronic disease prevention/health promotion topics. Coordinates and/or ensures supplies, equipment, and files are maintained in properly secured storage. Integrates performance improvement and customer service principles into all aspects of job responsibilities. Participates in required training and staff activities. Serves as a preceptor for and provides clinical education for Duquesne University Health Science students on clinical experiences in the Center for Integrative Health. Performs other job duties as assigned or required by the Manager of Community Health and Initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree, from an accredited institution, in a health-related field (Public Health, Health Education, Nutrition, Dietetics or behavioral health) Master’s preferred. Experience in program coordination, health education and nutrition preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the Center; Stays current on the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field; Implements knowledge gained into current work practices; Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and programs that impact the service area; Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
