![]() BEH HEALTH COUNSELOR 3 (Counselor, Eating Disorder Coordinator) Department Description Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 180 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), IACS (International Accreditation for Counseling Services), and APA (American Psychological Association). For more information on the department, see https://shcs.ucdavis.edu SHCS mental health staff are an educationally diverse group of licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, masters therapists, and pre-and post-doctoral trainees, dedicated to providing student-centered mental health services, advocacy, outreach, and consultation to promote psychological well-being and academic success. Counseling services are offered at no cost to registered students. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Counseling Services (CS) Clinical Director at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), this position performs professional patient/client care (individual, group, crisis intervention, and case management) assigned by quarterly clinic schedule. Leads and participates in multi-disciplinary Eating Disorder Management Team and provides guidance to healthcare providers when needed on collaborative care approaches. Provides consultation to healthcare providers about psychological factors affecting students with eating disorders. Provides campus programming on topics related to Eating Disorders / Body Image. Assumes primary responsibility of overseeing the Body Project on campus. Provides campus programs on education, multicultural concerns and prevention, provides supervision and training to Counseling Services trainees in an APA accredited internship and APPIC-member postdoctoral program. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team. Complies with professional requirements of SHCS and UC Davis policies and procedures as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements. POSITION INFORMATION PLEASE NOTE: STUDENT HEALTH & COUNSELING SERVICES IS RECRUITING FOR ONE COUNSELOR, EATING DISORDER COORDINATOR POSITION AT THE BEH HEALTH COUNSELOR 3 OR CNSLNG PSYCHOLOGIST 3 HX LEVEL BASED ON EXPERIENCE. PHYSICAL DEMANDS -Work in multiple locations and move from building to building. -Daily move throughout a 3-story building. WORK ENVIRONMENT -Work evenings and some weekends. -Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services. -Position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist of infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements. -Position requires signing a statement acknowledging requirement to report child abuse (CANRA) and requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders. -UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco produces and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space. QUALIFICATIONS Required: -Masters clinical/counseling degree and licensure (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC). Masters therapist applicants are governed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and are required to possess a valid California license. -Experience working with individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural backgrounds. -Experience treating diverse clients using short-term models of individual and group psychotherapy/counseling. -Experience treating clients with eating disorders in both an individual and group format. -Experience providing and developing outreach programs that increase healthy body image. -Ability to provide supervision to predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees. -Experience assessing and intervening when individuals present in crisis. -Experience establishing professional work relationships. -Current CPR certification or obtain within 90 days. Preferred: -Experience in developing and running groups for eating disorder treatment. -Outreach and program development experience in the area of eating disorders. -Experience coordinating a program that requires multi-disciplinary communication / team approach. -Experience working with historically underserved or marginalized client populations (e.g. LGBTQIA, African Diaspora, Chicanx/Latinx, International, Native American, etc.) -Experience working in a university counseling service with strong student service orientation. -Knowledge of ethical, legal and university standards and regulations.
