RN, Pediatric and Neonatal Doernbecher Transport (PANDA), PT, Nights
Oregon Health and Science University
PANDAs scope of care includes patients ranging from premature newborns to pediatric patients up to the age of 18. PANDA is a specialty transport service for inter-facility transports. PANDA does not respond to scene calls. Patients over 18 are considered on a case by case basis and can only be transported to a pediatric unit. PANDA is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS). The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN's care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN's engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. The Clinical RN exemplifies the principles of a Culture of Safety by committing to a Just Culture, a Reporting Culture, a Learning Culture, and an Engaged Informed Culture.
Department Specific Requirements (competencies, equipment, certifications, etc.):
Due to the independent nature of transport, it will not be infrequent that the PANDA RN and RT will run a code or a neonatal resuscitation without the in-person support of a Physician, therefore it is essential that there is context in which to put the education received in Advanced Life Support or Resuscitation course. Therefore, PANDA team expectations for having these certifications is different than the current OHSU process.
