Director of Risk Management

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

Healthcare Risk Management Program

• Responsible for the overall management of the Risk Management
  • The following programs are part of the Risk Management program: Risk Management, OSHA, Employee Immunization & TB Screening programs, FTCA, Clinical Safety Inspections and Claims
• Responsible for the management and processing of FTCA claims-related activities and serves at the claims point of
• Consults with providers/leaders regarding issues involving Risk
• Conducts regularly scheduled Risk Management meetings with leaders to monitor Incident
• Act as CHC’s resource for risk
• Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including AAAHC, HRSA, OSHA as it relates to Risk
• Partners with other HR leaders on FTCA and liability coverage cases including claims
• Monitors all Risk incidents and ensures follow up is
• Collects, analyzes and trends data on patient incidents utilizing the Incident Reporting system and investigates as
• Facilitates root-cause analysis of adverse events, participates in development of action plans and monitors implementation and evaluation of action plans.
• Ensures the confidentiality of all data collected for the risk management
• Prepare reports and presents trends to the Executive Team, QIC and CHC Board of Directors as directed.
• Responsible for developing training and documentation for risk management
• Reports risk concerns to the attention of Executive Team, Regional Directors/Managers and recommends corrective
• Responsible for developing policies and procedures that prevent harm to employees and property.
• Administrator of the COVID-19 Respiratory Protection Program.
• Develops annual Risk Management and works with the Corporate Director of Nursing to develop OSHA and Infection Control compliance
• In collaboration with the Credentialing Manager:
  • Represents CHC in legal proceedings when required
  • Reviews the potentially compensable events (PCEs)
  • Responsible for oversight of the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) program
  • Reports appropriate PCEs to FTCA program
  • Assists in the resolution of conflicts among patients, providers, and CHC to avoid claims
  • Manages handling of lawsuits and prepares the necessary material and records for a legal defense under the direction of FTCA or other CHC defense counsel
• In collaboration with the Corporate Director of Nursing:
  • Provides assistance on Infection Control programs and initiatives
  • May develop education classes for clinical support staff in partnership with Corporate Director of  Nursing

OSHA/Clinical Safety

• Partners with the leaders to conduct Clinical Safety/Risk
• Reviews and investigates patient complaints related to clinical operations as

• Assists with management of exposure under the Workers Compensation

Employee Immunization and TB Screening Programs:

• Oversees the employee immunization program including flu shots, Hep B and TB Assessment and Screening in coordination with VP/CMO & Associate Medical

Project Management:

• Participates in projects including QIC quality
• Performs other duties as
