The mission of the Department is to improve the health of people using approaches based in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, and behavioral science through research, educational programs, clinical programs, public service, and policy development. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities This highly independent full time, career position is within the NIEHS Environmental Health Sciences Core Center (EHSC) and located in the Department of Public Health Sciences.The Environmental Health Sciences Core Center at UC Davis, one of more than 20 NIEHS Core Centers, advances scientific research; fosters interdisciplinary collaborations; promotes community engagement; facilitates translation of research; and provides support and mentoring to new EHS researchers. EHSC has seventy-one members, spanning seven colleges/schools at UC Davis and engages stakeholders across California with an emphasis on the San Joaquin/Central Valley and areas affected by wildfires. EHSC is comprised of: Exposure Core; Integrated Health Sciences Facility Core; Community Engagement Core; Pilot Projects Program and an Administrative Core. This position directs the activities of the entire EHSC and manages and supervises the work of all staff in the Administrative Core. This position has a high level of independence and decision-making authority related to program activities, staffing, and budget matters. This position is responsible for both short and long-term strategic planning; overseeing the center budget; fostering collaborative relationships at UC Davis and across the region; developing and implementing center programs; and seeking additional funding. Research projects affiliated with, potentially having external funding, EHSC, such as Disaster Research Response projects, are also managed by this position; examples include time-sensitive projects launched in the aftermath of major wildfire events. This position reports directly to the EHSC Center Director, Dr. Irva Hertz-Picciotto. Required Qualifications
