Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist (2002899) - Huntsville, AL

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to serve as Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at the Huntsville Alabama manufacturing facility. This position involves working with two other EHS professionals in the direct support of the Process Safety and Equipment Safety EHS programs.

Your key priorities will include managing the Process, Product and Equipment Safety programs for the site. This involves developing and updating process safety plans and includes leading initiatives to improve overall process safety performance by analyzing past events and using your problem-solving skills to lead innovative solutions. While the site is not currently a PSM facility, your extensive experience with Process Safety Management tools will assist you in your role. Additionally, you will lead machine assessments and ensure that we meet or exceed equipment safety standards such as machine guarding, lock-out / tag-out and other controls for hazardous energy.

• Applying your experience in implementing safety and industrial hygiene programs in a manufacturing plant, you will maintain and monitor EHS compliance programs while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs.
• Leveraging your education in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Science or Engineering and your direct experience in chemical manufacturing plants with an emphasis on Process Safety, you will provide governance and oversight of EHS programs related to Process and Machine Safety.
• Driving sustainable solutions, you will lead and/or participate in investigation and root cause analysis for accident/ incidents as needed.
• Your experience with hazard recognition, job hazard analysis and Process Hazards Analysis will be a valued asset as you participate in capital project and process hazards analysis reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.
• Demonstrating your seasoned computer skills (ex. spreadsheets, word processing, database management; use of Stature system a plus), you will prepare training materials and deliver training for various safety topics.
• Collaborating for achievement, you will provide input to the EHS Team and interface with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and/or enforcement issues.
• Your effective communication skills will serve you well as you actively participate with the EHS Community across the CC Division.
