Research Technician

The Jänne laboratory at Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology is searching for a motivated individual with prior laboratory experience for a Research Technician position. The person would work in conjunction with other technicians, scientists, and post-doctoral fellows, aiding in mammalian cell culture based studies examining the effects of various molecular targeted agents in lung cancer. In this role, the technician would perform routine molecular biology techniques, including drug screens and various target inhibition assays, cell culture, viral transduction, protein chemistry, PCR, and cloning. The Research Technician will assist scientists in performing scientific research, development and/or clinical tasks of varying complexity. In general, this position will assist in the set up, operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, monitoring experiments, making observations and calculating and recording results. Bachelor Degree in biology or related science, or the fulfillment of premedical course requirements, and at least 2 years of laboratory experience are required. Hands-on experience and ability to perform basic molecular biology techniques and mammalian cell culture with minimal supervision are required. Previous experience with compound screens and/or target validation is desirable. Applicant needs to be organized, punctual, have excellent communication and record keeping skills and be able to work independently.Â
