The CRNA Administrative Specialist coordinates, maintains, and troubleshoots student and faculty access to all areas of hospitals essential to their clinical practice. This position operates the EPIC (electronic health record system) to effectively assist students with enrollment and accessing the system. The Administrative Specialist demonstrates exceptional understanding of all aspects of the UTC/Erlanger Health Systems Nurse Anesthesia Program. This position will be familiar with the COA accreditation standards for the program and the University requirements for students. This position maintains the highest standards of honesty, confidentiality, and integrity. Duties include:
Operations Sets up students in all Erlanger systems that will allow the students to access medication systems, order systems, etc.; obtains and maintains student access to parking and scrubs machine access at EHS facilities; and distributes updates from the Surgery Pharmacy director to the students to inform them of changes in medication distributions, packaging, where they are housed, etc.
Program Evaluation Maintains current student information in Typhon database to ensure the program meets clinical site and program requirements, i.e., RN license, ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications, documentation for flu vaccination, Hep C and HIV documentation, evidence of current malpractice liability insurance coverage, etc.; monitors number of daily clinical evaluations that are received for each student; reports deficiencies to Program Coordinator and Assistant Program Coordinator; and obtains data for reports and projects as requested by faculty.
Program Support Notifies students for updates to maintain compliance with clinical contracts and COA, CCNE; maintains student database regarding absences from clinical days for illness, vacation, education leave, etc.; manages requests for time off for vacation, etc. and notes student attendance and absence in clinicals; monitors attendance in clinical rotations; coordinates closely with Erlanger about student call rooms which are required 7 days per week; compiles and distributes weekly clinical schedule for students rotations; and as needed, will provide administrative support for the School of Nursing.
Support Supports UTC/EHS nurse anesthesia students by managing between 50-80 students at one time; attends all Clinical Evaluation Committee meetings taking minutes and maintaining records - must be available early morning (6am) or late afternoon meetings (5pm); and provides support for students managing an academic load with nearly 45 to 50 hour weeks in operating room.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and spreadsheets
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records Systems

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; and two years in secretarial experience or general clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business or Health Care related field; and previous experience as an administrative assistant in a Surgical Services or health care setting.
