The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will work as part of our productive, collaborative research team at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. For over twenty-five years, our team has been dedicated to conducting high‐quality, utilization‐focused evaluation and research work across the United States, with a specific focus on the evaluation of home visiting programs which serve expectant families and families with young children.
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will be part of the research team carrying out activities related to state initiatives to improve access to early childhood services, including a project aiming to: improve the coordination of early childhood resources; encourage partnerships among stakeholders; and maximize parental choice in the early childhood system of care.
The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will support the project through contributing to the planning and oversight of evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities, including contributing to needs assessments; gathering and synthesizing input from multi-level stakeholder groups to inform strategic plans in collaboration with participating state agencies; and assisting in the design and implementation of evaluations. The evaluations will determine the extent to which projects carry out intended activities and achieve intended outcomes using existing and new data gathered through qualitative and quantitative approaches. Applicants must be able to work independently in a self-directed fashion while managing multiple tasks.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide overall project management for needs assessments, strategic plans, and program evaluations and assure that project adheres to timelines and institutional policies.
Communicate with diverse stakeholders regarding early childhood services to inform needs assessments, strategic plans, evaluations, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Be available to travel to New Jersey regularly and as needed to meet with stakeholders.
Maintain all project related files in secure database and assure study files are organized and current. Maintain the confidentiality of the data files and documentation.
Maintain data sharing agreements.
Identify challenges faced by the project and aid team in brainstorming strategies to address new/recurring challenges.
Hire, train and supervise research assistants for all aspects of project.
Communicate regularly with team members to provide updates about completion of project activities.
Use skills to carry out data analyses, interpret results and use results to create figures and/or graphs for reports, presentations, and publications.
Identify and propose solutions to systematic issues with data.
Collaborate with research team to resolve data issues.
Assist with maintaining study IRB applications and approvals.
Assist with progress reporting to funders and the wider research team, including writing and preparation of evaluation reports and presentations.
Perform other evaluation and continuous quality improvement-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
Three (3) years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *
Bachelor's degree in related discipline including child development, public health, public policy, early childhood education, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics or similar discipline.
Three (3) years related experience.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidate must have outstanding organizational skills, be able to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholders, and have experience with mixed methods research.
This position requires strong analytical and data translation skills as well as proficiency with data visualization and basic statistical methods using programs such as SPSS, SAS, or STATA.
Candidates must be skilled in the analysis and interpretation of survey data and other secondary data sets and the dissemination of study findings through written and oral communications.
Candidates must be able to work independently as well as communicate and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
