Experienced Medical Assistant needed for busy, rapidly growing Dermatology office. We are looking for a motivated, reliable person who can go above and beyond with our patients. Responsibilities include patient care, assisting with procedures, medical documentation, and all aspects of medical back office duties. Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task. This position will also require the candidate to fill in as a Patient Services Coordinator when needed. Helping to maintain accurate information on each patient to facilitate the patient encounter. Use automated systems to expedite patient scheduling, pre-registration, and check-in.
Assist patient to exam room.
Screen patient prior to doctor’s exam and document in EPIC.
Prepare for patient procedures.
Effectively explain processes to patient.
Maintain and operate equipment accordingly to safety and quality control regulations.
Maintain inventory and supply ordering.
Help monitor clinic flow.
Stock exam rooms.
Verify and enter pre-registration and insurance information into the computer system and prepare daily printed schedules for designated areas.
Obtain and/or verify patient's demographic data by phone or in person.
Confirm appointments by telephone and/or mail.
Fill appointment vacancies due to cancellations.
Obtain pre-certifications as required by patients' health care insurers or managed care providers, and ensure that this is done for all patient encounters as required.
Register patients for clinical appointments using computerized database.
Assist patients or family members with the completion of medical insurance forms.
Inform patients of costs of care being provided, and guide them to appropriate resources for further information, guidance, or assistance.
Arrange or assist in arranging patient transportation when necessary.
Answer phones and provide routine information to callers.
Call patients to remind them of scheduled visits or follow up on missed appointments.
Clinic Flow and Leadership:
Collaborate with the clinic manager/supervisor to ensure scheduling conflicts are resolved, monitor room utilization, and maintain clinic patient flow.
Intervene, as necessary, on issues relating to patient complaints, health care providers' concerns, and operational issues, and take measures to correct situation or ensures appropriate personnel are involved.
Ensure that administrative and office equipment is maintained in adequate working order and schedule maintenance.
Serve in a leadership capacity with the registration and scheduling staff, setting an example in professionalism, attention to detail and customer service.
Partner with the clinic manager on issues related to front office staff management.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion/passing of an approved Certified Medical Assistant Exam.
Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required. If not currently certified/registered, must become certified/registered within 90 days of date of hire.
Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required at time of hire.
Experience in EPIC.
Experience as a CMA, preferably in dermatology.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent typing and accuracy skills.
Proficiency with personal computers.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills Independent worker, who is flexible, motivated and able to handle multiple tasks; self-starter.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:
Must have current certification in CPR and certification as a Medical Assistant by an approved national examination agency.
Must maintain MA and CPR certification/registration during duration of employment in this position.
