Reporting to the Early Head Start (EHS) Home Based Supervisor, the basic function of the EHS Home Visitor is to deliver Early Head Start services to pregnant women and children ages birth to three in the home setting.
Position Responsibilities:
Establish a trusting and caring relationship with each family and child
Serve as an advocate between EHS families and community resources
Provide weekly home visits to enrolled families
Prepare weekly lesson plans for each enrolled family
Plan and facilitate bi-monthly socialization activities for families
Partner with families to develop goals
Assist families in identifying family strengths and needs
Support positive family relationships
Conduct developmental and social emotional screenings in accordance with program timelines
Make referrals to Child and Family Connections for children with developmental concerns
Participate in on-going recruitment of children and families for the program
Maintain accurate records for program participants
Provide case management to families when necessary
Complete enrollment for eligible families
Meet weekly with EHS Home Based Supervisor for supervision and support
Participate in all required agency meetings and in-service trainings
Participate in transition process for children and families transitioning into Head Start
Maintains Gateways registry membership
Participates in 20 hours of professional development each program year
Maintains 5 hours of Gateways approved trainings each program year
Complies with all Erie Neighborhood House and Head Start policies
Participates in annual program self-assessment and community assessment
Responsible for the program complying with Erie, the Board of Education and all State licensing requirements and performance standards, including promoting the health and safety of all children, following sanitation procedures and universal precautions, completing a bi-annual physical exam, complying with the Confidentiality and Child Abuse and Neglect Act as a mandated reporter, as well as the American with Disabilities Act and Erie’s Inclusion Policy

Associates degree in Early Childhood Education
Experience working with families with young children preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Must obtain Gateways Family Service credential level 5 by 2024
Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards preferred
Experience with COPA preferred
