Reporting to the Director of Enterprise risk management the incumbent will have responsibility of the company-wide insurance program, including claims management and the loss prevention program. In addition, he(she) will assist with the implementation of the Business continuity program, work on the development of risk appetite statements and develop scenario-based risk assessments.
Role and Responsibilities
Conduct annual review of schedule of insurance policies, including review of renewal policies for errors or omissions and making recommendations for correction, addition or deletion. Verify accuracy of all terms and conditions of renewal policies. Assist the Director of Risk Management with data necessary to the annual analysis and report of transferable risk.
Manages all data collection necessary to the successful purchase of new and renewal property, liability insurance and other insurance policies and programs, including gathering data, and completion of necessary applications for coverage.
Develop and maintain a system for timely and accurate renewal and updating of all insurance policies, as well as recording of losses, claims, insurance premiums and other risk related costs and information.
Maintain financial projections necessary to adequately budget for insurance policy costs. Coordinate with accounting to assure that premium costs are allocated appropriately to the relevant Gildan Companies.
Maintain oversight of all incidents and claims that affect Gildan property, liability and other insurance policies. Respond to incident reports and maintain internal system of documentation. Make recommendations as appropriate to reduce/eliminate future losses (i.e. Loss prevention programs, Property & Cargo).
Make recommendations to the Director of Enterprise Risk Management when higher limits or additional coverages may be necessary for higher risk activities or events.
Review of insurance contracts for proposed acquisitions to be entered into by Gildan to make recommendations on appropriate contract language that is consistent with the risk tolerance and policies of insurance maintained by Gildan.
Maintain departmental policies and procedures related to insurance, claims and loss prevention.
Oversight of Global Emergency Response Plans to ensure standardization, completeness and testing of plans. Liaison with Global EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) leader.
Monitor critical events that may impact business continuity and employee safety (i.e. Natural disasters, Political Unrest) in locations where the company has operations.
Assist in conducting, risk assessment, mitigation strategies and developing Business Continuity plans
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Risk management.
A minimum of 10 years relevant experience with insurance, risk analysis, integration and implementation of enterprise risk programs is required
Demonstrate proficiency, by education and/or related professional work experience, of commercial lines insurance coverages, policy forms, underwriting processes, and claims submission/management processes and Enterprise Risk management framework.
Ability to understand basic contract language as it relates to insurance requirements and ability to evaluate Certificates of Insurance and policy documents/forms to assess coverages and exclusions.
Ability to demonstrate diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Strong planning and organizational skills to prioritize multiple projects under pressure and shifting demands and to meet critical deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in gathering and collecting data, reasoning logically, drawing valid conclusions, and making effective recommendations to management.
Strong written communication skills to prepare clear, concise business correspondence and documents.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to interact with groups of diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
Ability to demonstrate a strong service-oriented approach to work, with an ability to effectively communicate with team members and strategic partners internal and external.
Proven ability to exercise initiative and work independently, as well as within a team setting.
Ability to develop and deliver training presentations and workshops; utilize outside training resources.
Computer skills in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, database, presentation, electronic mail, internet applications, preferably of Microsoft Office suite software or software related to area of responsibility.
