Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, with medical oversight from the Vice President of Medical Affairs, the Director of Occupational Health Services (OHS) will evaluate, lead and constantly improve Occupational Health programs.The Director of Occupational Health Services is a member of the HR leadership team and as such is the primary decision maker for the occupational health programs including pre-placement, infection control/surveillance, worker's compensation/claims management, ergonomic assessments, transitional return to work and pre-accident (prevention) and loss control activities. This position is responsible for strategic planning, program design and implementation, occupational health administration, and program and service evaluation. Jointly with Human Resources, the OHS Director partners in the design and execution of programs that promote the health, safety and well being of CCA’s employees.
•Provides strategic system leadership as well as operational oversight for a new Occupational Health Department •Responsible for coordinating, managing, planning and developing policies and procedures to provide high quality employee health services that meet all internal and external requirements i.e. OSHA •In conjunction with business units and key stakeholders develops and implements strategic plans and annual operating goals consistent with the strategic direction, objectives and policies of CCA. •Develop and maintain standard medical treatment protocols and equipment/supplies to support those protocols •Assures collection, monitoring and reporting of data and health information practices to assure proper custodianship of employee health records and trends analysis as well as all required regulatory reporting •Assures effective case management through excellent communication with legal, medical and HR groups and external stakeholders on enhancing local medical provider interaction and relationships •Assist in the design and the performance evaluation of the Occupational Health department •Responsible for providing support and guidance for proper administrative, operational and clinical training of staff •Provide direction and counsel for clinical issues that may arise and consultation with the Medical Director •Business owner of the Occupational Health software application •This position will supervise occupational health staff, including, but not limited to clinical and administrative staff.
