The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist will manage EH&S programs in one or more specialty areas within EH&S. This position is responsible for management and oversight of campus wide plans, policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Under the direction of the Environmental/Hazardous Waste Manager, the incumbent coordinates a large indirect staff network across the UCI organization and maintains effective liaison with the State Water Resources Control Board, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Orange County Health Care Agency, Orange County Fire Authority and other regulatory organizations to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The EH&S Specialist responsibilities include:- Developing environmental policies and procedures.- Developing strategies and systems for compliance with environmental laws and regulations including liaising with regulators at the local, State and Federal levels.- Preparing environmental permit applications and compliance plans.- Coordinating permit compliance with internal stakeholders.- Minimizing risk to UC Irvine properties.- Providing outreach and training to achieve and maintain compliance with University policies and environmental laws and regulations.- Prepare of environmental reports.Manage the campus Water Quality Program, encompassing Storm Water, NPDES Permit, and Waste Water Programs.Manage the campus Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) Reporting Program and California Accidental Release Plan (CalARP).
