PMCU resides in the Downstream & Technology Services department of Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC). PMCU is a group of dedicated people responsible for crude oil and petroleum product characterization and process problem solving using analytical chemistry. PMCU’s analytical expertise covers a wide range, from fundamental ASTM tests to sophisticated analytical technologies including ICP-MS, NMR, SEM, TEM, FIMS, XRD, XRF, XPS, as well as a variety of hyphenated chromatographic techniques.
The individual selected for this position will maintain and establish quality assurance practices within PMCU's laboratories, audit Chevron internal and third-party analytical laboratories, and provide analytical technical support to internal Chevron clients. A BS and/or MS with emphasis on analytical chemistry or equivalent experience in the petroleum industry is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must have specific environmental laboratory auditing experience, excellent organizational and teamwork skills for handling projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and have effective oral and written communication skills. Finally, this position involves domestic and international travel (up to 10 % of time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of PMCU’s Quality Assurance System. This responsibility includes collaborating with PMCU Laboratories to:
Develop, validate and document laboratory methods, practices and procedures
Analyze appropriate levels of quality control samples to produce data that demonstrates statistical control and accuracy
Provide adequate technical training to analysts
Participate and track performance in inter-laboratory proficiency testing such as ASTM cross-check programs
Investigate and establish corrective actions for data incidents
Monitor laboratory test method control charts
Conduct quality system audits to assess laboratory conformance to quality assurance practices
Audit Chevron and third-party analytical laboratories according to various standards (ASTM, EPA, NELAC, TNI, ISO 17025, and BWON)
Manage QA documents and records within PMCU’s SOP SharePoint site.
Provide analytical technical support to Chevron internal clients
Experience performing ASTM, EPA, and water/wastewater Standard Methods test methods related to the petroleum industry
Environmental laboratory auditing experience
Commitment to teamwork and strong organizational skills with an exceptional ability to handle simultaneous projects in a fast paced and complex environment
Effective oral and written communication skills
Master in Analytical Chemistry
