General purpose: The Strategic Communications Division at MICA is searching for a Communications Content and Media Strategist who will serve in an executive capacity. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in a dynamic, creative and challenging work environment. In this role, you will serve as a key leader in the division, with primary responsibility for capturing and articulating why MICA is one of the leading colleges of art and design in the country, creating ongoing message development, capturing the stories to illustrate the value of an art and design education at MICA, coordinating the channels through which those narratives are told, and ensuring execution at the highest level. Reporting to and working as a trusted partner of and advisor to the Vice President of Strategic Communications, you will be a senior leader within the division, and a key coordinator among other communicators across the college. You will be the lead, developing a comprehensive content strategy. To be successful, you will understand the wide variety of communication channels--including public relations and media, long-form narratives, social media, multimedia, and other content, ensuring they are integrated. The content delivered will be creatively and strategically implemented for maximum impact across a variety of audiences. The public relations manager will report directly to you. The Strategic Communications division works as a flat team, with very little hierarchy. Collaborative working styles are essential to our success. Working with the team, you will work closely with production and design colleagues to elevate the university's visual brand, multimedia and graphic content, and the way in which the brand is applied and perceived. Position Responsibilities: ⢠Working closely with the Vice President for Strategic Communications, leadership and the full campus, to identify and articulate the messages and stories to raise the visibility of MICA around the world and that resonate with members of the community and other key partners in support of the College's priorities⢠Oversee the content direction for a wide-range of print and digital publications, recognizing the fluidity and integration of content across all media while maintaining the highest standards in writing and story-telling. ⢠Coordinate the divisionâs approach to media planning, oversee and direct the use of different media, and oversee appropriate staff to develop comprehensive communications plans ⢠Harness new media and new approaches to help tell the College's story ⢠Create a content strategy for integrating channels and outreach across all platforms; ⢠Integrate the innovative use of social media to support and promote other forms of storytelling, and as a standalone form of communication and engagement, particularly with students, prospective students, alumni, and other target audiences ⢠Create newsroom and campaign style planning to ensure long-term success of message penetration; ⢠Work to develop and execute effective measurement of editorial activities, audience segmenting, targeting, and their outcomes⢠Inclusion, equity, and diversity that result in active collaboration and cultural sensitivity are valued competencies MICA.
