The Research Data Manager will be responsible for management of complex data from multiples longitudinal and cross-sectional studies. The Research Data Manager will have oversight of other JHU staff and act as the primary contact for multiple studies in regard to data issues. This person should be an inquisitive self-starter with the ability to learn new technologies in a reasonable amount of time.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
The Research Data Manager will be responsible for management of complex data from multiples studies. The candidate will design ACCESS databases, write data documentation, and fulfill data requests from researchers.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data so that information may be used by the Program Manager or study investigators for presentation, reports, or publications.
Design, maintenance, and monitoring of a comprehensive participant tracking database and project specific databases. Design surveys used for participant interviewing. Monitor the functionality of interviewing computers. Hire, train, and supervise students to perform quality assurance of survey data. Develop and review quality assurance reports and document necessary data corrections.
Detect problems in research instruments, data collection and data entry.
Track and assess quality and completeness of data entry and immediately raise potential concerns with study investigators.
Prepare longitudinal and cross-sectional survey data for analyses including cross checking data with other databases, making data corrections, making construct variables, and combining several datasets. Document data collection concerns and provide assistance to researchers as needed. Maintain monthly reports showing enrollment figures, follow-up numbers, and datasets that are available for distribution. Meet with study investigators biweekly to discuss data priorities.
Maintain cloud storage for sharing data and other files. Oversee new computer set up and submit help desk tickets for existing computers as needed; submit help tickets to add users and grant permissions to file server.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
Three (3) years related experience.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Fluency in SPSS/Stata, and MS Access required. Experience with Qualtrics or QDS a plus. Fluency in coding and analysis using SPSS/STATA for data management and basic statistical analyses required. Highly motivated with ability to develop, conduct and manage multi-component research projects. Strong written and oral communication skills. Highly productive and can work under pressure and within time constraints. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse cultures. This person should be an inquisitive self-starter with the ability to learn new technologies in a reasonable amount of time.
