Under the direction of the Department of Medicine (DOM) Credentialing Program Manager, this position coordinates activities for Active Medical Staff and Faculty Appointments for the DOM, to include but not limited to, training the divisional credentialing staff. Coordinates the DOM academic credentials for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, trainees and visiting appointments. Coordinates the medical staff appointments for all credentialed faculty, fellows, medical staff, housestaff, and others, as needed. Interprets operating and university policies; exercises independent judgment in resolution of credentialing issues. Reports to the Credentialing Program Manager, DOM.
Oversees in conjunction with the manager, all aspects of appointments and credentialing for faculty, fellows, medical staff, housestaff and others.
Develop, implement and maintain appropriate departmental policies and procedures related to executing the credentialing processes in accordance with JHH and JHU School of Medicine policies, government regulations and JCAHO guidelines.
Create credentials-related reports for Manager, Chairman, Administrator, departmental credentials personnel, committee chairs, division managers, division chiefs, search committees, etc.
Educates and informs faculty and division personnel about credentialing policies and procedures.
Curriculum development and training for representatives of external and internal departmental affiliates.
Create manuals, flow charts and other educational material related to the credentialing effort in the Department.
Maintain existing database, automate the credentialing and medical staff process for the DOM.
Maintain the Share Point site with updated credentialing and medical staff information.
Oversee the reappointment and end-provisional process for Medical Staff.
Assists the DOM Physician Advisor, Manager and Divisions regarding active medical staff appointments for initial appointments and reappointments for the DOM. Coordinates all documentation and agenda as well as serving as the secretary for the committee as needed.
Interpret JHH Medicine Administration, as well as faculty- and fellow-related policies of the School of Medicine for the Chairman's Office, Division Chiefs, Division Administrators, Committee Chairs, and individual Faculty and Medical Staff members.
Oversee the semi-annual School of Medicine Reappointment Review process for the Chairman.
Assists the DOM Appointments and Promotions Committee.
Coordinates all documentation and agenda as well as serving as the secretary for the committee as needed.
Lead and train all divisional coordinators and division managers on academic and medical staff appointments.
Maintain and modify departmental database, integrating appointment, credentials, historical information, etc. for all DOM faculty and others.
Maintain the electronic faculty files.
Maintain and create tracking processes for appointments, promotions and medical staff appointments.
Serve as liaison between the Department and JHH Medical Staff Administration, the School of Medicine Dean's Office and the JHU Office of International Student, Faculty and Staff Services.
Edit Department of Medicine material contained in regularly-issued institutional directors and catalogues and participate in the creation and revision of various credentials-related documents used in the School of Medicine and JHH Medical Staff Administration, as well as within the Department.
Provide information to the Departmental Billing Office about prospective appointments to the Medical Staff.

The Institute of Genetic Medicine, Sinai Hospital, other affiliated hospitals, non-affiliated hospitals, schools of medicine, credentialing services, government agencies, state boards, pharmacies, patients seeking information about physicians.
High School/GED required. Some college coursework preferred.
Four years of related experience required.
Additional education may substitute for some experience.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
