::Administer the Infection Control Program as it applies to patients, employees, and visitors to the hospital. Provides for employee safety and well-being. To require at least 10 hours per week of the employee's time. The remaining time will be served as a staff educator in the education department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all Administrative, Clinical, and Human Resources policies and procedures.
Must actively support the mission, philosophy, and goals of the hospital.
Must be able to communicate with sensitivity to growth, development, and cultural issues.
Implement and coordinate the program of infection control, prevention, and surveillance as approved by the Infection Control Committee.
Authorized to institute infection control measures deemed necessary when there is reasonably felt to be a danger to patients, personnel or visitors until such time as advice can be obtained from the physician member of the Infection Control Committee.
Tracks and works in conjunction with unit physicians and nurses to assure compliance with the District of Columbia (DC) Department of Health standards, CDC, OSHA requirements, JACHO recommendations and standards.
Track employee illness for infection control purposes.
To assess patient care and need for consultation.
Assist HR Director with administration of the Occupational Health/Work Injury Program.
Maintains confidential Employee health files apart from personnel files. Maintains current documentation.
Monitor the Employee immunization program.
Provide wellness information / programs for employees.
Track the return to work process in consultation with employees and supervisors
Ensure own personal and professional growth by maintaining continuing education in all phases of position requirements.
To serve as a role model to patients and staff.
Maintains professional demeanor in dress, attitude, support of unit milieu, and hospital mission and philosophy.
Training of staff on all aspects of the hospital operations (Handle with Care/Verbal De-escalation).
Conducting hospital orientation.
Participating in annual skills training for all direct care staff.
