The SWS Yard Waste Center (YWC) Superintendent will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Yard Waste Center, the transfer station, the landfill, flare operations, gas collection and control system. Manage YWC activities personally or through subordinate supervisors. Supervises, plans and directs the work of all employees engaged in the operations, maintenance, repairs, recordkeeping, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and compliance. Supervises, plans and directs the work of all employees engaged in the disposal of solid waste and construction activities at the sanitary landfill, evaluates performance and provides coaching, training, and development as required. Assist with monitoring, testing, and maintaining state and federal compliance of gas collection and control system, flare operations, leachate collection, groundwater, and storm water discharge. Prepares plans, reports, and specifications for landfill operations; drafts correspondence; develops business cases; contributes to budget. Interprets state and federal regulations and determines implications for landfill operations. Plans, researches and recommends continuous improvement of services and delivery of services at the landfill. Completes employee performance evaluations, recommends and implements necessary disciplinary action, creates developmental opportunities, and manages the hiring and work assignments of subordinates. Protects the community’s natural resources while encouraging sustainable growth that complements existing development.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in equipment operations such as loaders, bulldozers and excavators.
At least 3+ years of supervisory experience including preparing performance evaluations, recommending and implementing necessary disciplinary action, creating developmental opportunities, and managing the hiring and work assignments of subordinates.
Minimum of 3+ years of air quality compliance for methane producing facilities, environmental regulatory compliance at in a landfill environment, gas collection and control system, flare operations, leachate collection, groundwater, and storm water discharge.
