The Senior Environmental Laboratory Analyst is the advanced working or lead level. Incumbents perform a variety of difficult and precise standardized tests and analysis requiring initiative in using a variety of analytical methods and equipment to obtain test results within set parameters. Incumbents are expected to carry out varied assignments without detailed instructions or guidance, and have the ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in performing their assigned duties. Individuals in this class often provide work direction and job specific instruction to assigned staff.
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the requisite knowledge and abilities would be:
Either: 1. Two years as a Environmental Laboratory Analyst in Sacramento County.
Or: 2. Two years of progressively responsible environmental laboratory experience performing tests in chemical, bacteriological, or public health.
Twenty-four (24) semester hours in college or university laboratory courses such as chemistry, physics, biology, or bacteriology.
