Knox County is seeking a Solid Waste Director who is responsible for the County’s Solid Waste Management Activities. The Director manages the County owned and operated Solid Waste Facilities, including a 450 ton per day municipal solid waste landfill, a landscape waste composting facility and waste hauling operations. The Director also coordinates recycling programs as identified by the County Solid Waste Management Plan. Candidates shall minimally possess a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Construction Management, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field, and have a minimum of five years of experience with responsibilities in public finance and accounting, solid waste, or public administration.

Duties of the Department:
The Knox County Landfill provides a variety of services to the public including:
Operation of the only landfill in Knox County.
Maintaining contracts with outside entities for refuse disposal.
Maintain records and requirements for any required regulating agency.
