The City of Long Beach, Department of Public Works is seeking a dynamic Superintendent to head its Clean Long Beach Division.
The Clean Long Beach Division provides a variety of public services from street sweeping, parking enforcement, litter abatement to community programs. In addition to managing the complex day to day operations of street sweeping and parking enforcement, the Superintendent will be responsible for implementing the City’s Street Sweeping Optimization Program, engaging in a multi-faceted approach to managing the City’s homeless encampment clean-ups, directing the City’s new Clean Team created to address illegal dumping, litter abatement, and neighborhood nuisance issues, and partnering with stakeholders to develop innovative projects and programs to improve the quality of life for City residents.

A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in a service delivery or field operation capacity two years of which must have been at a supervisory/managerial level directing large, complex service delivery or field operations.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required. Candidates may substitute experience offering specific and substantial preparation for the duties of the position for the required education on a year for year basis.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience in street sweeping, parking enforcement and/or litter abatement programs; experience in cost control, scheduling, accident investigation, and interacting with the public; experience interpreting and applying Federal, State, local/municipal codes and regulations.
