The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have an inclusive, coaching management style that empowers people by involving them in the decision making process. Must be able to delegate effectively, allow people to rake risks and hold them accountable for results. Additionally, the selected candidate will provide mentoring and training to staff as needed and be supportive of developing a succession plan.
Excellent communication skills including strong written and verbal presentation skills are imperative. Must be a good listener with the ability to influence and persuade others. The ability to make technical presentations that can be easily understood by non-technical audiences, communicate effectively on controversial subjects and communicate with the media is needed. Ability to relate to a diverse community and staff is important.
Education & Experience Requirements
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Operations or a related discipline in the Sciences. Demonstrate experience in operations and/or management of water treatment plants is preferred. Qualified applicants will have five (5) or more years of broad progressive management experience in the following areas of water utilities operations: Business and Customer Operations, Debt Service, Water Operations, Wastewater Operations, Capital Improvement & Engineering Services, Process Improvements and Long-Range Planning. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities will be considered and may be qualifying.

Salary Range for the Assistant Director classification: $88,006, - $148,154
Anticipated hiring range for this specific position: $118,000 - $135,000
