Towson University is accepting applications for a Production & Athletic Complex Technical Manager to oversee and manage all technical production, advanced programming and maintenance, and athletic supported areas of Technical Operations for Event & Conference Services (ECS). This position is responsible for the creation, design, and integration of systems for major events that include lighting, audio, video, and supporting systems.
These events include but are not limited to athletic events, small/large sized concerts, meetings, conferences, and all events that take place at the Towson Sports Complex. This includes working directly with clients and visiting vendors on specific technical needs for events, and designing, programming, and maintaining digital display boards in the Sports Complex area, both university and non-university related. In addition, this position works with the Senior Technical Operations Manager to supervise the Technical Operations staff to coordinate the setup, operation, and load out of event-related audio/visual equipment throughout the Towson University Campus.
Handles technical requirements for small to large sized events independently; capability to understand technical requirements detailed on work orders; demonstrate a strong ability to work with ECS Event Managers and customers as required; serve as a point of contact for the President’s Office and Athletics staff to determine specific technical needs of the departments for any Sports Complex events; demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service; serve as a point of contact for visiting production crews as needed on large events; knowledge of ECS and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards; meet with the other staff members weekly to review the upcoming week’s events to effectively plan and schedule staff and inventory; skilled in set up, operation, and breakdown of our most complex audio/visual equipment setups, including house and portable lighting systems, various types of presentation equipment, laptop computers, screens, and various types and levels of sound and lighting equipment; accurately interpret client tech needs and produce a high-quality product; "up-to-date" on current technology and programming of technical equipment; experience with LED Digital Display Boards, video production systems, audio systems, Daktronics control and scoring systems. Assist with other duties as needed.
•Bachelor’s Degree •Three years of work experience • Must be qualified to drive state vehicles, pass the DOT Physical Exam, and obtain Forklift Operator Certification • Ability to use proper safety equipment and clothing when performing setups and handling equipment (back braces, gloves, etc.) • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, work long shifts (up to 15 hours), and spend long periods of time on your feet (or with accommodations) • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holiday hours • Strong organization and coordination skills • Ability to analyze and solve problems, investigate and analyze information, and draw appropriate conclusions
