In this role, you will perform a range of business analysis activities include planning, performing and implementing system improvements and initiatives, maintaining support of operational systems, and ensuring that systems perform as designed. Reporting to the EHS Operations Project Manager, you will serve as a liaison to program managers or functional owners for EHS business system initiatives.
What You Will Do:
Define and document EHS business and functional requirements.
Develop functional and business requirements using individual and group interviews, surveys, process walks, process re-engineering workshops, requirements workshops, and peer site visits.
Document functional and business requirements using best practices methods including: high-level systems diagrams, requirement traceability matrices, user stories, functional specification documents, data maps, test cases, workflow diagrams, system interface and user report requirements according to standardized methods while using natural language accessible to non-technical communities.
Analyze data relevant to processes, define data requirements, evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying business requirements.
Determine process recommendation documents, including presentations, process maps, supporting metrics, business requirements and related impact analyses for complex processes or for portions of larger or inter-related processes.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with customers and stakeholders to analyze process needs and requirements and produce documentary artifacts such as functional and business requirements, user stories, workflows, R2A2 matrices, and requirements traceability matrices, mockup layouts for onscreen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems. Etc.
Create and develop test case scenarios, performs functional QA testing, facilitates user acceptance testing (UAT), and performs regression testing.
Make recommendations on appropriate solutions based on research, benchmarking and best practices.
Write specifications for technically complex or challenging procurements; including the gathering and organization of technical details and requirements.
Assist in the investigation of potential vendors, makes recommendations, and communicates vendor discrepancies and parts/equipment issues.
Support system functional owners with the creation of help sheets and training materials.
Review data post-system implementation to measure success; participates in defining standards of improvement success.
Engage leadership and stakeholders to obtain support and buy in for changes.
Partner with management, project champions, program owners, process owners, project managers to align process improvement initiatives with business objectives.
Share accountability for realization of results with project managers, program owners and process owners and assists in presentations of recommendations to stakeholders and process owners.
Serve as the conduit between the customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow.
Facilitate the on-going communication between functional and technical staff to ensure clarity on problem statements, business requirements, timelines and the feasibility of technical solutions.
What is Required:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business Systems, Information Technology, or closely related field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant broad based progressive experience as a customer-focused Business Analyst or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated specialized knowledge and experience in managing major business systems, reengineering initiatives, and implementing best practices.
Strong project planning experience including development and execution management of plans and strategies.
Demonstrated experience determining the impact on existing business systems when system modifications and/or enhancements occur, creating new processes and/or modifying existing processes in support of new system implementations.
Experience in designing, developing and delivering training in a multi-faceted and diverse organization.
Prior experience working in a rapidly changing, and technological environment.
Demonstrated significant experience in independently determining priorities, and successfully integrating diverse resources and projects to achieve an organization's strategic objectives.
Demonstrated advanced skills in analyzing complex information and situations independently identify problems and relevant factors, formulate logical conclusions, and recommend and implement alternative solutions.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with senior level LBNL, UC, DOE and other personnel. Exceptional internal and external relationship and teambuilding skills.
What We Desire:
Advanced graduate degree or professional certification in Business Systems Analysis, Lean Six Sigma, or project management.
EHS knowledge and experience.
Project Management certification (PMP), Business Process Management and/or Business Process Modeling certification.

This is a full time, M-F, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $8,678 - $11,930 monthly.
