The incumbent is a member of the Institute for International Programs (llP) technical team whose primary responsibility is to coordinate the management aspects of several major llP projects. This position will support the following two grants: A Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)-funded grant (Improve Project) that supports 1) the provision of timely estimates of the causes and determinants of mortality and selected morbidities for children and adolescents aged 0-19, 2) improvement of indicators to measure coverage of interventions to support maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (MNCAH), 3) the Lives Saved Tool (UST), and 4) development of MNCAH indicators for use in humanitarian settings. A US Fund for UNICEF administered award from BMGF to support the Countdown to 2030 movement to track, stimulate and support country progress toward improved women's, children and adolescent survival and nutrition.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Serving as the liaison with funding agencies (e.g. US Fund for UNICEF and BMGF), technical working groups, subgrantees, and regional collaborating institutions to manage over-arching grant workplans
And assist JHU Finance Team in budget development. This includes ensuring all sources of funding within the grant are programmed toward eligible activities and securing all necessary approvals for activity specific scopes of work and budgets.
Interacting with implementation partners (e.g. Population Council,Federal University of Pelotas, Aga Khan University, LSHTM, UNICEF, WHO, West African Health Organization, etc.). The incumbent will assist with development of contract deliverable schedules and scopes of work, and other documents necessary to secure approval and execute awards. Once awarded, the incumbent will track progress and coordinate technical updates to ensure invoice payment.
Working with JHU Principal Investigators and JHU Finance Team to track activity progress. This includes tracking timelines and work plans for project milestones and deliverables, and monitoring program activities and coordinating extensions, re-allocations and de-obligations as necessary.
Preparing and writing of program-related reports (i.e. meeting reports and annual reports to funders). This includes tracking all reporting requirements and deadlines; coordinating actors engaged in reporting; and preparing and/or coordinating responses to special donor requests. In collaboration with financial staff, the incumbent will assist with financial reports to funders.
Assisting in preparation of presentations for multiple audiences including donors, implementing partners and various committees and working groups.
Coordinating technical and financial inputs into the Improve Project quarterly dashboard submission to BMGF and drafting Project-level meeting agendas in coordination with the Project Pl.
Generating and coordinating posting (by website manager) of Countdown to 2030 website content, including linking with UNICEF to ensure all Countdown-associated profiles are accessible through the website, and managing the Countdown to 2030 email inbox.
Developing a Project website for the Improve Project on the JHU/llP platform and coordinating content updates.
Tracking and reporting on project publications and ensuring compliance with BMGF Open Access Policy and submission through CHRONOS publication platform.
Coordinating the Countdown to 2030 Coverage Technical Working group; including assisting with the development of call/meeting agendas, reporting of call/meeting proceedings, coordinating the publication of the "secondary analysis" series of papers, managing the JHU Coverage TWG budget.
Prepare documentation for IRB submissions.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
5 years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *
Related Master's preferred.
