The Production Coordinator provides critical production and project management support for the Print Services unit of Brownâ™s Office of University Communications. Print Services at Brown includes a Digital Print Facility and Copy Center. Together, these facilities provide services such as digital printing, color copies and prints, bindery services, direct mail, dry mounting, and custom framing. The Print Services unit is also responsible for bidding all Brown print jobs to external vendors to ensure the best pricing for projects.
The Production Coordinator works closely with campus partners to move projects through the production process, ensuring that jobs stay on time and on budget. The Production Coordinator leverages project management systems within the Office of University Communications and within Print Services to facilitate this work. The Production Coordinator assists with print production-related tasks such as press checks and mail services and works with external vendors in delivering promotional items.
Reporting to the Director of Print Services, the Production Coordinator works closely with cross-functional team members and clients on the internal prepress and print production of materials. The Production Coordinator is able to provide insight to campus partners on cost-effective and high-quality print solutions that align with overall goals, and ensures compliance with Brownâ™s Communications and Marketing policies, including the Visual Identity Policy. The Production Coordinator is responsible for overall customer satisfaction, promoting cross-functional teamwork and collaboration, on-time delivery, maintaining efficient workflows and continuous improvement efforts, and assisting with job closing and invoicing. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative and flexibility, has strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal and organizational skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required: Associateâ™s degree and/or relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the printing industry
Minimum 3 years of experience in a client relations, project management, or production-related role in a print facility
Experience overseeing the production cycle of print publications and promotional items
Experience managing external vendors
Experience with project management software and management information systems
Experience with layout requirements for various production equipment in a digital and conventional and digital print environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Positive, customer service-oriented team player
Proven proficiency in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Knowledge of print and digital services and offerings
Knowledge of application software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to manage external vendor relationships and maintain strong relationships
Ability to embrace and lead change and champion continuous improvement
Fast-paced, deadline driven environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes with short notice
Perform other job related duties as assigned for the successful operation of prepress and production
Adhere to all OSHA and Brown EHS safety regulations
Noise level is typically moderate to loud
Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, airborne particles such as paper dust
Must be able to work independently
Travel required to on and/or off campus locations on occasion
Must be able to lift over 25lbs
