Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to have direct responsibility for leading the Product Stewardship programs for Performance Chemicals, Plastics Additives business in North America. This role is responsible for strategically identifying emerging Product Stewardship/Regulatory issues and opportunities, assessing product and market risks, proactively developing risk management measures and product strategies for the assigned portfolio and business segments, and providing Product Stewardship/Regulatory support for customers. You will routinely interface with Business Unit Leadership, Product Management, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Technical, EHS and Legal in the region as well as with global counterparts internally, and externally with customers, trade associations and/or regulators. Product Stewardship is part of the EHS Service Platform and is directly aligned with the Regional and Global Business Units in North America.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Industrial Health, Toxicology) or Engineering and experience in Product Stewardship, Regulatory, EHS or related field, you will strategically identify emerging Product Stewardship/Regulatory issues and opportunities, assess product and market risks, and proactively develops risk management measures and product strategies for assigned portfolio and business segments.
Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will provide strategic direction on EHS product-related issues and opportunities to senior business leadership on a routine basis and more formally though the Strategic EHS Forecast documentation under the BASF Responsible Care Management System®.
Communicating effectively, you will lead targeted advocacy efforts related to product and business issues, including representing BASF externally on industry work groups, as necessary.
Your commitment to customer care will be a valued asset as you provide direct and indirect support to customers regarding EHS/Regulatory issues and training for handling and use of products within the plastics additives portfolio. You will also support responses to customer product regulatory questions with EHS Product Intelligence Center (EPIC).
Working collaboratively with other functions such as Product Regulations and Toxicology, you will determine and assess the impact of product changes and regulatory requirements on business unit products, markets and customers and actively manage regulatory issues to resolution. You will also engage in the Phasegate/Product Development process to assure regulatory and stewardship issues are considered and to promote sustainable products.
Demonstrating your strong leadership ability, you will lead the development and implementation of Stewardship tools, and programs, including implementation of BASF Product Stewardship Directive for the business unit and product stewardship related activities under the BASF Responsible Care Management System®.
Applying your expertise and regulatory knowledge, you will support the assessment of the sustainability profile of products and promote sustainable business opportunities.
