Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to manage the day to day operations of the Urethane Applications Building (UAB) in support of the Polyurethane Systems Business of BASF's Performance Materials (PM) Group. In this role, you will lead a team that performs new product development trials and customer troubleshooting efforts in the machine areas for the Construction, Consumer, Industrial, and Transportation business segments.

Formula for Success
As a role model, you will manage and lead a team of 15 reports across various functions to support Technical and Business partners for the scale up of new products and product trials for the four PMN business segments (Construction, Industrial, Consumer, Transportation) in the polyurethane industry. This includes coaching, mentoring, and developing your direct reports, as well as monitoring and controlling the area operating budget.
Leveraging your education in technical or Engineering discipline combined with your experience in pilot plant and/or production operation, you will manage resources and activities in machine high bay areas (UAB Main, Clark St., and NVH Lab) and associated UAB labs, including coordinating and prioritizing projects, to support PMN markets.
Collaborating effectively with colleagues, you will function as area Manufacturing Representative for capital project development and implementation based on area needs and requests from segment Technical Managers and Business Partners.
Successfully engaging across the organization, you will build and maintain relationships with internal business partners and cross-functional departments to achieve departmental goals. Specifically, you will interface with Maintenance to review maintenance backlog and schedule jobs for machine preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
Your commitment to safety and zero-incident mindset will be critical as you provide safety leadership by serving as a chair of the UAB Safety Oversight Team, attend AIM investigation meetings, PSSRS, hazard reviews, conduct safety contacts, conduct safety inspections and audits, EHS internal and external audits (Responsible Care Management System, ISO), etc.
Your focus on efficiency will be a valued asset as you lead continuous improvement initiatives in the high bay areas to improve safety, quality and operational efficiency, optimize areas of operation for the future growth of our technology and business, and develop strategies to leverage our expertise between sites.
Demonstrating your robust knowledge of the polyurethane industry combined with your strong interpersonal skills, you will provide industry product training to external customers via in-house on-site and trade association involvement (ex: PM Onboarding and Polyurethane Academy).
Utilizing your strong organizational skills, you will ensure area documentation (WOPs, policies, etc.) is up-to-date and accurate per company and site guidelines.
