Where the Chemistry Happens...
Shift Group Leader – Wyandotte, Michigan
The Shift Group Leader is directly responsible for one of the four production teams, and works the same rotating schedule with their team. Shift Group Leaders typically operate autonomously with minimal direct supervision, and are responsible for making most of the daily decisions. Non-routine decisions are made with input from Operations Leadership and other Wyandotte Dispersions & Resins staff, as well as other Wyandotte site support personnel. In emergency situations the Shift Group Leader will typically serve as the Incident Commander until additional help is available.
Lead the Chemical Plant Operators towards excellence in productivity, quality, reliability, and EHS performance. Utilizes Mindset & Behaviors tools and principles to drive behaviors; accepts responsibility for results.
Ensure that the shift's production schedule is executed as planned, adjusting operator assignments, monitoring progress, and addressing all deviations from plan, result is high on-time performance per N-EDN Resins & Additives business requirements.
Assess capabilities of all Chemical Plant Operators, observing their performance in assigned tasks, providing training and coaching to address improvement opportunities while recognizing and spreading effective practices.
Supervise daily operations and activities, creating face-to-face interactions throughout the shift, reinforcing proper EHS and task behaviors while addressing deviations, developing a sense of individual and team accountability for the production team. Shift Group Leaders are active supporters of CHAMPS, performing frequent safety contacts and providing the time and encouragement for their teams to perform safety observations.
Participate in contractor in-plant planning and task execution, walking down systems and monitoring scope and EHS adherence, improving overall contractor EHS and project execution.
Participate in and lead root cause analysis, ensuring that the teams identify the root causes along with effective corrective actions, driving corrective actions to completion to continually raise the total level of performance.
Provide feedback to Operations Manager and Maintenance team regarding plant and production issues, tracking cost, quality, scheduling, and EHS opportunities for improvement; focus on overall continual improvement in WYDR operational effectiveness.
Serve as single-point contact for the team on high-level scheduling, quality, maintenance issues.
The Shift Group Leader will work a 12 hour rotating shift in alignment with their production team.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...
HS Diploma or GED and 5 years of chemical plant experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of chemical plant experience
Associate or Bachelor's Degree
10 years of chemical plant experience as an operator or team leader.
1 year of experience in MOCs, HAZOPs and PSSRs
1 year of people leadership experience
