This is a limited continuous filing exam. Cut-offs are at 5:00 pm on: 9/28/2018, 10/12/2018, and the Final cutoff 11/9/2018.
Chemists perform a variety of complex laboratory tests to determine chemical and bio-chemical composition of liquids, solids, and gaseous substances; and act as staff specialists regarding water quality tests involving chemical analysis and research.
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related scientific field. The science degree must include at least twenty-four (24) semester units or thirty-six (36) quarter units, of upper division chemistry courses, including one (1) year of physical chemistry.

Two years of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry. A Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Note: The word "experience" referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the job announcement states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
Note: If the minimum qualifications include an educational, certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirement (copy of diploma, transcripts, license, or certificate) with the application. Failure to submit proof of requirements may result in disqualification from the examination. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
