The Spruance OH Competency Consultant provides leadership, technical support, policy, program auditing and oversight, and strategy development for site OH programs and initiatives at the DuPont Safety & Construction site in Richmond Virginia. The OH Consultant provides functional guidance and leadership to area SHE resources in support of OH goals and objectives, is a key member of the Site Responsible Care Core Team, and is responsible to support the line organization in maintaining compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal OH related regulations and requirements.
This position has responsibility for leading and coordinating occupational health (OH) programs at a site of ~ 2500 employees and contract personnel.
Programs include, but are not limited to, the following:
Updating implementing and maintaining site OH managing processes and procedures.
Working with production unit SHE resources, site Safety and Integrated Health Services groups, and area personnel to accomplish OH goals and objectives.
Supporting and providing subject matter expertise to incident investigations of occupational illnesses or OH incidents to determine key factors and learnings and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
Keeping the line organization apprised in making timely adjustments and continuously improving performance indicators through statistical analysis, performance metrics, monitoring results, etc.
Networking with OH professionals across the company, business and region, and participating on improvement projects, competency related calls, etc. as appropriate
Supporting the collection, management, statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting of personal exposure data through interfacing with the Industrial Hygiene Technical Assistant
Leading, participating on, and helping driving preparation for any first and second party OH audits to insure compliance with corporate standards and governmental regulations.
Interfacing routinely with other site, regional, business, and corporate Safety, Health and Environmental resources to share and leverage information as appropriate.
Serving as the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), Ergonomic Facilitator, and Respirator Program Administrator
Continuing the integration of Cority® into the OH exposure assessment and management program.
Demonstrated Capabilities Required:
Knowledge of governmental Safety & Occupational Health regulations.
Planning and organization skills to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and with varying degrees of complexity.
Ability to lead and/or resource diverse teams to accomplish results without direct authority.
Ability to identify deficiencies in program functionality and drive improvement.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals and teams having diverse viewpoints, cultures, and backgrounds and at various levels of the organization from shop floor to Site and Business leadership.
Proficiency with the Office 365 suite of product, including SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel.
Ability to continuously improve personal functional capability and ensure maintenance of technical and regulatory expertise
Ability to network effectively.
Effective oral presentation, report writing, and other written communication skills
B.S. in Industrial Hygiene, or another applicable technical field (chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering)
5 to 10 years of directly related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills needed to participate on or lead a team.
Must be capable of creating and communicating safety information to diverse audiences.
CIH Required and must be maintained.
