Waste Management Administrator / Full-time
The City of Chesapeake Public Works Department, Waste Management Division is currently accepting applications for a full-time Waste Management Administrator position.
This position is for a highly qualified individual to plan and manage the operations and activities of the Waste Management Division which includes oversight of weekly curbside collection to 68,500 households with a staff of 80 employees and a budget of $21 million. This position is responsible for supervising subordinate personnel, planning and delegating activities, preparing the Division’s budget, formulating and implementing policies and procedures, maintaining quality control, and tracking and reporting of operations.
Required Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in business or public administration or a closely related field; a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience; a valid driver’s license and driving record that is in compliance with City of Chesapeake’s Driving Standards; certification by SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) as a Certified Collection Systems Professional, or the ability to obtain same within twelve (12) months of hire.
Preferred Requirements: Waste Management managerial experience in a municipal setting.
