The incumbent is responsible for supervising the operations, planning, budgeting, and providing technical assistance for the wastewater treatment operations and pump station maintenance and repair. This position has direct and indirect supervision of employees performing wastewater process operations, laboratory analysis, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment, and buildings and grounds upkeep. The incumbent is directly responsible for facilities meeting and maintaining the County's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and biosolids management requirements with State and Federal agencies. The position requires a variety of skills associated with infrastructure asset analysis, treatment process, personnel management, and training.
Required Education and Experience
Associates Degree in relevant field, Group IV Wastewater Operator's certificate and 5 years progressively responsible experience in operations and maintenance of a secondary or tertiary wastewater treatment plant, including 2 years of lead or supervisory experience; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and education which is equivalent to 7 years of experience and provides the applicant has the required certification and the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Experience or Other Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Experience with mechanical and electrical equipment associated with sewer/water pumping facilities.
