Description Summary: The EHS Manager contributes to the facility team and reports to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management. Responsible for Industrial Hygiene and Safety compliance for the company, including R&D, Manufacturing and Operations. Translates and integrates company and functional strategies into tactical plans and guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and interpreting laws and regulations with respect to occupational safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory safety and process safety management.
Administers and executes all industrial hygiene activities and programs to detect, evaluate and, control occupational health hazards and illnesses associated with research and development, manufacturing and operations work area environments
Develops and/or conducts industrial hygiene sampling plans, guidelines and procedures
Develops and implements industrial hygiene policies, procedures and programs to be observed by site and contract personnel
Facilitate and oversee implementation of the potent compound program including design and implementation of controls, containment verification, potent compound training and associated medical surveillance
Evaluates reviews and recommends appropriate engineering controls and personnel protective equipment related to Industrial Hygiene activities and for the prevention of chemical and physical agent exposure
Plans, develops, conducts and/or supervises training programs to create proficiency in sound EHS practices and promote EHS awareness
Conduct process hazard analysis to identify, evaluate and control hazards
Directly supervises the implementation of Industrial Hygiene Programs such as, but not limited to, Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene Plan, Respiratory Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Conservation, Air Monitoring Sampling and Collection, Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories, Ergonomics Process, etc.
Manages one direct report and directly manages the daily EHS function at the manufacturing site
Participates and assists management in Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response Team activities
Serve as the Respiratory Protection program administrator for the company including respirator selection, fit testing and training
Recommends, selects and maintains monitoring equipment as required for noise, toxic substances, and harmful physical agents
Effectively manages contractors and consultants when required
Candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related science/engineering field
CIH professional certification is required
Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate investigation reports
Experience managing and/or participating in multiple projects simultaneously
5 to 10 years of experience in a biotechnology or Pharma process development or manufacturing environment
