To be considered for this position, you must have the following qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Occupational & Environmental Health, or related discipline with 5+ years of progressively responsible Industrial Hygiene experience, preferably in consulting. Candidate is required to have responsible charge and project manager experience. Hazard recognition, assessment, and control in small business, construction, mining, oil, and general industry desired. Alaskan experience and market knowledge preferred. Must have expertise in one or more of the following technical skill areas: sustainable design, energy modeling, hazard analysis, exposure monitoring, development of hazard control and safety and health plans for environmental projects, construction, mining, oil and general industry companies, OSHA compliance audits, lead and asbestos hazard inspections and abatement; noise evaluations & control; hazardous waste site operations, ergonomics, indoor and/or outdoor air quality, risk assessment, computer modeling, toxicology or hazardous material building assessment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access database as required for effective recording and reporting of technical information.
Certifications: State of Alaska driver's license, ADEC qualified sampler and HAZWOPER required. Candidates must be licensed Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or currently preparing for examination for certification. Specialty health and safety certifications such as Industrial Hygienist in Training (IHIT), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), indoor air quality (IAQ), mold/fungal investigations, PPE, lead-based paint and asbestos experience and certifications desired.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities commensurate with experience and position, including field work, sampling, interpretation, and analysis of results, and written and oral presentations of findings to clients and regulatory agencies. The successful candidate should anticipate routine overnight travel within Alaska and exposure to all of the technical skill areas listed above. Both full time consulting and project specific contract employment opportunities are available. Project specific opportunities include standard 40 hr/wk consulting as well as remote camp contracts involving 7 days a week, 12 hours a day work, (time off schedules are typically three weeks on and one to two weeks off). General industry, business, and construction consulting is required, as well as training, business development, and proposal writing.
