USP is seeking a talented Applications Engineer within the Southeast region. The Applications Engineer position is a critical role for the company providing technical, commercial and operational support for ensuring that USP’s existing industrial and municipal programs within the South East Region are operating to contractual performance specifications and according to the USP playbook. The position also provides technical sales support for the Regional Sales Team for new business development activities. This includes customer meetings/presentations, leading application surveys, developing proposals and performing demonstration programs leading to the capture of new business.
This is a home-office based position and the successful candidate must be located in the Southeast region (preferably in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee or the Carolinas). Please note this position is designated for candidates with a minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience in municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater treatment and chemical technology applications. Experience with large agricultural/food/manufacturing/chemical/oil & gas facilities a plus. Candidates who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
BS Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related field
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater treatment and chemical technology applications
Background/experience in project management
Laboratory skills and experience with water/wastewater field test kits
Technical proficiency in municipal and/or industrial wastewater treatment processes and applications for chemical treatment
Demonstrated effective ability to succeed in a cross functional work team environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent technical and commercial written and verbal communication skills
Object focused and highly organized approach to work
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
Very strong and up-to-date computer skills
Works with modest amount of supervision and oversight
Keen understanding of USP’s business model (value added) and able to position value proposition and service offering as competitive advantage
Ability to travel extensively within the region, up to 60-80% for regional support
Physically flexible and mobile with ability to lift 45 lbs, safely climb ladders or negotiate other terrain or field obstacles, provide basic mechanical site support and perform chemical / analytical tests
