Johnson County Wastewater is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Treatment Superintendent. This position oversees operations at the Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment Complex in Shawnee. The Treatment Superintendent is responsible for tasks associated with operations of the facility, including supervision, training, and development of staff. Job duties include the following:
Ensure treatment process is operating within guidelines. Provide input and guidance for treatment process adjustments with a goal of 98% compliance with discharge limits.
Execute equipment repairs and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to properly maintain equipment availability.
Participate in hiring decisions, performance evaluations, and discipline of all staff. Ensure staff training needs are identifed and addressed.
Participate in preparation for Operations and Maintenance and Capital Improvements Program budgets, along with overseeing the facilitie's annual budget.
Ensure daily staffing levels are sufficient for proper response.
Compile and submit reports summarizing plant operations and maintenance status. Evaluate data and processes to identify, make recommendations, and implement various improvements.
Schedule and conduct treatment plant tours and provide customer service in response to questions and complaints.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Five years of experience in mechanical, maintenance, or other industrial or field based work in a water or wastewater field is required along with three years of supervisory experience. A driver's license and good driving record are also required.
An Associate's degree in Environmental Sciences or other related field is preferred. A Class IV KDHE Operator License is also preferred along with one year of experience in the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment or collection system.
Education can substitute for experience.
Driving Status - Intermediate (5% to 25%)
Additional Salary Information: $29.78 - $40.94 per hour
