A busy, established (35 years in business) consulting firm is looking for an ABIH-Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to join our team of two other CIH/CSPs and industrial hygiene technicians. We are looking for a team player who will bring strong scientific and technical knowledge to our small business. We will also consider the right CIH track professional.
The success of our company is driven by the expertise of our CIH staff members who design and perform complex projects in the field, as well as direct the work of our technicians. The preferred candidate will have a CIH and at least 5 years of experience in a broad range of industrial hygiene and related areas. A Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive industrial hygiene consulting services to a wide variety of clients including governmental, educational, industrial, commercial and healthcare with ~75% of time anticipated to be field work. Current AHERA (asbestos) certificates, EPA-lead related and Hazwoper certificates are a plus, although we will provide relevant training courses as appropriate.
The employee will design, perform and/or manage multiple projects, conduct exposure monitoring, interpret data, ensure technical quality, meet deadlines and produce final, technical reports. In addition to a high level of knowledge and competency in the profession, a key requirement of this position includes demonstrating professional level written, verbal and electronic communication skills, as well as expertise with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Attention to detail and commitment to scientific principles in all areas of work are required. The candidate will also be expected to provide training courses after appropriate experience (AHERA Asbestos, EPA RRP, among others)
The employee will have initial interactions with clients to determine their issues, develop proposals for specific projects, conduct field work, write reports, and participate in business development, marketing and client presentations. The successful candidate will work closely with our industrial hygiene technicians and will provide professional support and direction to them as necessary and appropriate. This employee will also have the scientific knowledge and ability to work collaboratively with the other CIH/CSP team members to provide complex industrial hygiene consulting to our clients.
The position requires some travel throughout the state and occasionally out of state (generally less than 25% overnight travel) and may be required on short notice. Hours must be flexible to match our clients’ needs and schedules. Work hours will generally be day shift but will vary, and evening, weekend or night work may be required on occasion. The candidate must be able to climb stairs and ladders, lift 30 pounds, enter confined spaces (including crawl spaces) and wear an air purifying respirator (APR).
